Twindo recently launched Point Cloud to BIM, which supports scans captured from tripod and SLAM-based scanners. We accept the following file formats: Structured E57 (preferred), RCP/RCS, LAS/LAZ, and PTS/PTX. Please keep the original scan positions in the file when you can.
Twindo Scan to CAD only accepts scans captured by the Twindo app. Twindo uses proprietary SLAM (Simultaneous Localization and Mapping) technology to recreate scale-accurate 3D models of real-world spaces from a mobile device. That requires access to the raw data captured by the device itself, with our algorithms tuned tightly to it. Our Scan to CAD pipeline is tuned to that same raw data, which is how we automate most of the process and keep prices lower than manual modeling and drafting. For that reason, Scan to CAD currently supports only scans captured with the Twindo iOS app on a compatible iOS device.
Which should I choose?
- Scanning with a phone or tablet and want CAD or BIM outputs: use Scan to CAD.
- Scanning with a terrestrial laser scanner or another tool and want a BIM model: use Point Cloud to BIM.
