After 37 Years of Kitchen Design, It Takes a Lot to Impress Me

I’ve been designing kitchens and baths for more than 37 years. In that time, I’ve seen just about every tool, technology, and workflow promise to make the process easier, faster, or more accurate. And I can comfortably say: Most fall short.

I’ve always believed that great design starts with great information. Before I can think about cabinetry, appliance placement, lighting, finishes, or the countless details that make a space function beautifully, I need to know exactly what exists today. And for most of my career, getting that information meant spending hours on-site measuring every wall, window, ceiling, outlet, switch, and vent by hand.

It’s necessary work, but it’s also time-consuming. And even with the most careful documentation process, there’s always the possibility that something gets missed.

As a kitchen and bath designer, small details matter. An outlet that’s in the wrong place. A ceiling height that’s off. A vent that wasn’t documented. Any one of those can create problems later when cabinetry is being designed, materials are being ordered, or construction is underway. And in kitchen design, small mistakes have a way of becoming expensive ones.

Great design starts with great information.

That’s why Twindo stood out to me right away. Today, instead of spending countless hours documenting existing conditions myself, I receive detailed, design-ready as-builts that capture the information I need from the start.

The level of detail is remarkable. Outlets, switches, vents, architectural elements, and all the little things that matter in kitchen and bath design are already there.

The first thing I noticed was the accuracy. The second thing I noticed was the time savings. Instead of waiting through a lengthy measuring and drafting process, I can start designing almost immediately. The turnaround is incredibly fast, which keeps projects moving and lets me focus on what I do best: designing beautiful, functional spaces for my clients.

The difference was immediate.

But what I value most is the confidence. When I open a Twindo as-built, I know I’m working from a complete and reliable foundation. I’m not second-guessing measurements or wondering whether an important detail was overlooked.

That certainty changes the entire design process. It allows me to spend more time collaborating with clients, refining layouts, selecting materials, and creating spaces that truly reflect how people live. For someone who has spent nearly four decades in this industry, that’s a big deal.

More than speed. More confidence.

I’ve worked with countless products and services over the years, and very few have fundamentally improved the way I work. Twindo is one of them. In fact, after 37 years designing high-end kitchens and baths, I can honestly say it’s one of the most impressive tools I’ve ever used.

The as-builts include every outlet, switch, vent, and architectural detail I need. The files arrive quickly. The accuracy is exceptional. And the entire process allows me to spend less time documenting and more time designing.

At the end of the day, that’s what every designer wants: confidence in the information, efficiency in the workflow, and more time to focus on creating great spaces. Twindo delivers all three.
