5 Things Interior Designers Want to Know Before Using Twindo

1. How Long Does It Actually Take to Scan a Space?

For a standard room, most customers report scanning takes a few minutes. 

“What used to take 15 hours now takes minutes,” says Lisa Simopoulos of Simopoulos Design. A full residential floor typically runs 15 to 20 minutes, depending on the layout, square footage, and how many enclosed spaces you’re moving through.

Erin Fassl of Gracefully Framed says, “It has probably taken that from a four-to-six hour process on more complex designs down to 20 minutes. I know exactly how long my as-builts are gonna take, and it’s not very long.”

2. Is It Accurate Enough for Design?

For the vast majority of interior design workflows, yes. Twindo scans captured using best practices result in as-built models that are accurate to within 1 to 2% of manually verified dimensions.

In practice, that means room dimensions, wall placement, door and window locations, and ceiling heights are all reliable enough to drive cabinet layouts, FF&E selections, and permit drawings.

That said, Twindo models what it can see. Obstructed surfaces, areas that weren’t fully scanned, and organic or highly ornate shapes may be simplified or omitted. Movable furniture and fixtures that aren’t permanently attached to the structure won’t be included in the CAD file, though that information stays accessible in your scan via the app or Web Viewer.
